The For the City Network: Connect

Here's a piece I just finished for my brother's non-profit "The For the City Network" to help explain what they do exactly.
I had fun trying out new motion graphic techniques, including some shape tweens in Flash and more use of expressions in After Effects. I got it done in a little less than 30 hours on weekends and nights.

Enjoy!

Chad Causey

About a year ago I did this political ad. I like it more because I got to experiment with stop motion than the political positions of the ad. I had about a day to work on it.

AICP Southwest Sponsor Reel

The company I work for, Element X Creative, just unveiled our new creation. It's probably the coolest thing I've been a part of since becoming an "artist". It was an intro for an advertising show that took place in Dallas this week, so the logos that we put in the video are the sponsors of the show. In the past, this open has been very centered on the logos and not much else, but we decided to make it more interesting and tell a story too.

We had 5 weeks from start to finish, and even though we are a smallish company, we pulled it out. Our Art Director, Brad, had the skeleton of the story, but everybody pitched in some ideas. For example, I suggested the cow tipping and the "pantsing" of the thief.

I was responsible for composting and tracking the logos, making them look like they were always on the buildings. I also designed the titles for "Bronze", "Silver", "Gold", "Platinum", and "After Party". Additionally, I did some minor composting with the boy, birds, smoke and such.

Dallas Woman's Forum

On my way home tonight, I stopped and took some pictures of The Dallas Woman's Forum, whatever that is. As I was putting my camera back into my car, these old ladies came out of the building and asked if I owned my car. Then they told me they thought I was rummaging around a car I didn't own. I felt weird, so I just said, "Nope. It's mine." And got in my car and drove off.

Grillin Some Corn

This is the first official picture taken with my new ultra wide angle lens. And it was taken by Alli!

Chicken Breasts with Artichoke-Olive Sauce

Team effort on this one. Alli made the Artichoke-Olive Sauce and I prepared and made the chicken. Good.

Irving Convention Center

On the way home from Westlake, I decided to stop at the brand new Irving Convention Center, which is actually in Las Colinas. I was freelancing nearby here when it was under construction, and I always wanted to take a look around. Here was my chance.

SOLANA MASTER PLAN: THREE

The first two parts of the Solana Master Plan that I visited were office buildings. This last part was different, there were shops, restaurants, a hotel, a boys scout meeting place, and a rec center. Light, Color, Scale.

SOLANA MASTER PLAN: TWO

Across the highway, there's a whole other clump of buildings designed by Legorreta. Again, notice the Light, Color and Scale. Beautiful.
