Editing is harder when the subject is sentimental, and therefore this week's posts will be longer. Also, since I believe my wife and I are the only ones that actually read this, that doesn't really matter.
Alli and I went to Zihuatanejo, Mexico for 8 days/ 7 nights. Zih is a little fishing village on the Pacific coast in Southern Mexico. It was totally awesome. This is the view from our room at Las Brisas del Mar.
The pool.
While we were having lunch, this little boy had the tiniest dog and Alli thought it was going to drown... but it made it out alright.
Pretty much immediately, we got wet. I like how her nails look on the blue background.
Here's a view of the hotel.
The first night we were there was the Food & Wine Festival's '32 Tastes of Mexico'. We walked to it and saw these signs on the way. Zih is very near to Ixtapa and close to Acapulco.
This makes me think of 'The Mask of Zorro' where Zorro has to free all the slaves from the mine. But it also shows you how they are developing the town.
The Festival was on La Ropa Beach, and it was hard to miss it.
Zih is great because the village-folk all hang out on the beach, and Ixtapa is the touristy part of the area, so it was never really crowded.
They placed a car in the middle of the beach.
Really beautiful setup with all white decorations.
We got there really early, so we got to watch the sunset. Pretty.
Those are goats.
I really liked the staff's shirts.
They were not afraid of getting burned.
They gave us cool trays that had holes for your wine glass.
Octopus. Delicious! Everything was unbelievable.
I believe this is the duck.
Rick Bayless gave a little presentation after everybody ate.
I'm not big on tequila. But the margaritas they had were aight.
The festival was probably the highlight of our trip, it was seriously some of the best food ever. But we definitely had lots of fun the rest of the time. I will try and get day 2 up as soon as possible! Stay tuned.
